TBH I didn’t think I was gonna like it as much after hearing Flesh Without Blood (what a GROWER) and Scream but when the full album came out I was slayed! Kill V. Maim is so weird and amazing and only Grimes can pull that off. My other favorites are Venus Fly, World Princess Pt. II and Butterfly.
I also agree that the Realiti demo is better as a standalone song but in the context of the album, the final version fits better. The demo would’ve sounded out of place. What a queen. I love how she lowkey told her neckbeard fanboys on 4chan who thought she “sold out” to go f*** themselves with this album.
I like most of the song but the straining on some parts is distracting. Also as someone in their 40s, it’s hard to listen to someone in their 20s describe themselves as getting old and using young in the past tense. For God’s sake, Adele is still young, too young for these lyrics. Sounds more like Streisand, Mariah, or Celine age appropriate.
Totally disagree. Adele is a few years away from 30. She’s young, but these lyrics aren’t too young for her. When Celine was her age, she made mature music too. I like that someone her age is actually coming across as an adult. Once upon a time, 20-somethings were worldy and responsible. Now too many of them still act like teenagers.
News flash: a few years from 30 is still young. I think you need to be AT LEAST well into your 30s before singing that you are “getting old”. She’s getting older but not old. Celine did not sing such lyrics in her 20s. A mature song is different and I welcome that from any adult, but these lyrics specifically focus on getting old and looking back at youth as if it’s in the past and therefore should have been written for an older person whose not in their 20s and recording an album called ’25’ to highlight that year of her life.
25 is the perfect age to reflect on your childhood and early adulthood as you contemplate the future…right in the middle, so to speak…I didn’t have this fear (of getting older), but I certainly reflected and even confronted some of my past relationships with friends, family, etc. at 25…I felt like my eyes were finally open…it was an A-HA moment for me lol…I think this will be the beauty of her new album….have a great day Miss Anne 🙂

Right, you didn’t have a fear of ‘getting old’ or see yourself as being in that stage of your life yet, that was my point. But I see what you are saying about it being an age of maturity or coming into your own so to speak and even reflecting on younger years.
